Sunderland pulled off the shock of the season so far with their 3-0 victory over champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were missing Terry, Lampard, Alex and Essien but they were still expected to win this one as they were installed 1/5 favourites. Coming into the match Chelsea were yet to concede in a home league match this season, whilst Sunderland were yet to record an away win. However, none of these facts prevented the Black Cats piercing the hearts of the west Londoners.

Birmingham were another side to upset the applecart as they ground out a thoroughly boring goalless draw against champions elect Manchester City. Thousands of weekend accumulators were ruined by City’s failure to win, this did not concern Alex McLeish as his side recorded their fifth clean sheet of the season. Only Chelsea, Man City and Sunderland are above Birmingham in the shutout stakes, you may want to bear this fact in mind when selecting your fantasy defence in the coming weeks.

This column tipped Arsenal, Bolton and Wigan to be victorious in gameweek 13, needless to say the 18/1 treble was landed. A few nervous moments were endured towards the end of the Arsenal game after Tim Cahill brought some hope to the home support with an 86th minute goal, Everton’s late surge was not enough and the Gunners picked up their most significant points of the season so far. With United and Chelsea dropping points, Arsenal are back in the hunt, confirming the widely held belief that this will be the most hotly contested Premier League title in history.

Star fantasy men were Gareth Bale and Matt Jarvis. Wolverhampton’s Matt Jarvis was on the losing side but still managed to amass 17 points, he was rumoured to be in contention for the dubious honour of a place in the England squad for the forthcoming friendly against France. Unfortunately for Jarvis he failed to make the squad, but given his bloodline perhaps he should turn his hand to Table tennis - a little research tells us that both his parents reached number one in the British Table tennis rankings.

The gameweek 14 competition will be open on Tuesday morning and it promises to be the best one yet!
