That said I still think that captain detracts from the game -for instance if Lukaku had got a hatrick in the 12.45 KO the rest of that weekends comp is spoiled

Suggestion: I think the substitutions should be by order and not by position (I thought that was how it worked ).
batista
If I choose 5-3-2, and a striker as the first substitution option, and a defender does not play, the formation should change to 4-3-3.
bennyc78
I disagree. I think subs should be used to replicate initial formation. I do think that when a star man doesn't play the subbed in player should become captain.
Referee
It is not possible for us to implement either of these changes at present. However, we will consider both ideas at the end of the season.
fscottl
If you decide to keep the format where you chose a captain then I have to agree with bennyc - the sub should be captain if yours doesn't play

Hazard only awarded 1 assist in this game. Thought he had two?
Referee
We will ask our data provider to review Chelsea's third goal for you.
bennyc78
Hazard's cross was blocked and ball fell to Fat Frank. He won't get an assist for that. Sadly.
Referee
Eden Hazard's pass deflected off Joey O'Brien on its way to Frank Lampard. Therefore, Chelsea's third goal remains unassisted.

Van Persie is not even in the squad and I have him as my captain. Bummer.

Any chance you could get the "to play" function working please?
Referee
We are aware that it is not working properly and hope to fix it before next weekend. Apologies in the meantime.

Thanks, ref. It's a very handy tool.

@referee Apparently Mourinho's rationale was that Lukaku would take points off Chelsea's rivals - case in point today.
Referee
Whilst in the meantime his own side do not possess an out and out goalscorer. Some logic!

Fair play to people with lukaku as captain!
Referee
Letting Lukaku out on loan for the season has to be Mourinho's worst managerial decision.
